EXIF data

Frequently asked questions

What is EXIF data and why does it matter?
EXIF is metadata your camera or phone embeds in every photo: timestamp, device model, exposure settings, and often GPS coordinates. It can leak location and routines if you share photos publicly.
Does stripping EXIF affect image quality?
No. Metadata lives in a separate header from the pixel data, so removing it shrinks the file slightly but leaves the image identical.
Do social networks remove EXIF automatically?
Most large platforms strip GPS and personal metadata on upload, but not all do, and direct-message attachments often keep everything. Strip it yourself before sharing if privacy matters.
