Frequently asked questions
- How does upside down text actually work?
- Each letter is swapped for a Unicode character that visually resembles its flipped form, like ɐ for an upside-down "a." The order is also reversed so the result reads correctly when rotated 180 degrees.
- Will every letter have a flipped version?
- Most lowercase Latin letters have a recognizable inverted counterpart, but a few letters and most punctuation are approximated. Numbers and uppercase letters are hit or miss depending on the chosen mapping.
- Where can I use upside down text?
- It works in places that accept Unicode plain text, like Instagram bios, Twitter handles' display names, Discord messages, and chat apps. It will not work in fields that strip non-ASCII characters.
