Frequently asked questions
- Does merging PDFs reduce quality?
- No. Merging copies the original pages byte-for-byte into the new file, so text stays selectable and images stay at their original resolution.
- Why is the merged PDF larger than the sum of the inputs?
- Each source PDF carries its own fonts and metadata, and duplicates aren't always deduplicated when combined. Running the result through a PDF optimizer afterward usually trims the overhead.
- Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
- Encrypted PDFs need to be unlocked first, since their page streams can't be read while protected. Remove the password in your PDF reader, merge, then re-apply protection if needed.
